Bailey Hill oozes history at every turn! The work of our wonderful Research Volunteers has been invaluable in developing our knowledge and interpretation of this fascinating site. Excitingly, we know that there is still so much more to learn and discover – which is why we’re always on the lookout for more research support.
If you love meeting people, this is the one for you. Visitor Volunteers are absolutely critical – without them we simply can’t operate the Bailey Hill Centre. Present during opening hours, our volunteers help ensure that visitors and the local community are able to make the very most of our facilities. They also help with guided walks and talks, as well as giving directions and general information to the public.
Helping to plan, organise and host a variety of events at Bailey Hill, our Events Volunteers are a vital link to our local community and visitors.
Keeping the park looking great is a big job. So we need volunteers to do extra work over and above what Flintshire County Council does routinely. So if you love a bit of gardening and general tidying-up, this could be right up your street. We’re really grateful to The Friends of Bailey Hill who have kindly agreed to do work in the upgraded park – but, as we said, it’s a big job so we still need more help. You’ll be joining a merry band of outside-loving volunteers with a wide-ranging skill set.
If you enjoy planning and running lively, stimulating and educational activities for school groups and families, we’d love to hear from you.
We need Wildlife Volunteers to carry out initial snapshot and longer-term wildlife surveys throughout the year. We’re talking mammals, birds, bats, moths, butterflies and invertebrates. The role may also involve more detailed ecological/ wildlife surveys. If you’re keen to get involved, we’ll provide appropriate training and full guidance. If you love plants and flowers, there’s also the opportunity to help with The Friends of Bailey Hill’s wildflower planting programmes, by undertaking wildflower seed collections and doing some off-site propagation of certain plants. This will be of huge benefit to both the motte and wider park.
We’re keen to celebrate the park and encourage people to make use of this fantastic area. So we need a marketing whizz, or two, or three! They will keep the Bailey Hill social media accounts and website bang up to date, as well as write press releases and actively promote the events taking place in the park. This is a great opportunity to help us shout loudly and proudly about our brilliant Bailey Hill.
If you want to learn new skills and add experience to your CV, then we’d love to hear from you. We’re really keen to offer volunteer placements, so get in touch and we’ll be happy to chat about how we can help you
Help us protect the sustainability of the Bailey Hill and the important history contained within the site.
“Bailey Hill will be a vital green space in the heart of Mold. It will be an accessible, safe and vibrant place with a special and attractive character and its rich heritage and biodiversity will be protected and celebrated.”
